Fo(u)r Haiku

(from the NaPoWriMo prompt: write an ode to life’s small pleasures. Perhaps it’s the first sip of your morning coffee. Or finding some money in the pockets of an old jacket. Discovering a bird’s nest in a lilac bush or just looking up at the sky and watching the clouds go by.) [So, I have three different poems started for this and wasn't feeling any of them. Then, my sister-in-law Jen invited me to a Facebook Group that just does her favorite form—haiku! And since I actually consider haiku a "small" pleasure, here are four haiku that are just a moment out of one particular morning for me. Sometimes it is fun to just play with words.]

Cold rain this morning.

Drips, drops, plops on window sill.

The world weeps with us.

Toasted bread with jam

and peanut butter spread on.

My jar is empty.

Good news this AM.

Better than yesterday's fare.

Hope it is trending.

Thanks for the invite,

Jen. It's a good spot for some

procrastination.
