Wiling Away

Can I be too ____ to write these days?

Too set, too predictable, too

enjambed in my ways,

offering too few new words

to everyone else,

old sounds taking up space

that could restart

engines of industry

or reimagine plans of rich men

as the sun sets deeply

in the trees greened up

for spring,

while I while away

thinking of things to write?
