is a red flag
dangling from a long, tall pole that
marks my well.
We take from it and take from it
and in our turn give back and back
and back through the long
green glade on the north side
of our cottage.
There is a balance and flow—
what comes in must come out,
pressure drives the flow
in and the release
out.
I am not a well.
